I had autophobia during my years with anxiety but now, sometimes, I like nothing more than being alone.

Autophobia manifests as the fear of being alone or being left somewhere and also, sometimes co-exists alongside agoraphobia, which is the fear of being away from a person or place of safety.

But why do you have autophobia?

People who have high anxiety automatically feel vulnerable… vulnerability is the physical experience of sensing danger and forms a vital part of the anxiety response.

Fear of being alone is an extension of this same process. When humans feel vulnerable, like all animals,
